One thing you can take to your grave is that Melbourne has arguably the best nightlife in the country. The CBD itself is chokkers with bars, clubs, evening river cruises, and fantastic restaurants. Once you’ve got the boys together, it’s a decent idea to sit down and map out exactly where you want to go. Maybe you’re feeling like kicking the night off with a German feed and a massive stein of beer, or looking for endless high class tapas and imported sake. Either way, if there’s one place these joints can be found virtually next door, it’s Melbourne. For the finer size of life, there are cocktail lounges and rooftop prime steaks, just waiting for you to put on your dressiest shoes and have a  go at. The bars are also unparalleled and we don’t just mean the classic beer gardens on the roof with sweeping news of the city either! Head underground for some of the most hidden and creative bars you’ve never heard of. You can decent into what seems like a basement, only to come to an Alice and Wonderland themed bar, with huge glowing mushrooms, cloudy vapour, and creatively themed drinks that look good, taste good, and pack a punch. The clubs on teh other hand range from a single basement level to four stories, with a type of beat for everyone. With everything so close, and a public transport system with plenty of Ubers, this is easily one of the best places to host your mate’s buck’s party.

Surf to Turf

Let’s get out of the CBD for a minute, although you could spend a week there alone, and head out to the country. Full of beaches and forests, there’s something for every outdoorsy buck when it comes to the area around Melbourne. To the east you have the famous Yarra Valley with incredible wineries, hang gliding, dirt biking, bush bashing, and snow. You could spend a few days just discovering everything out here, especially if your buck’s the kind that likes chasing waterfalls and finding slime of the secrets only the locals know. There’s even massive lakes where you can rent a houseboat and fish or jetski the weekend away, however you’ve got to do one of the most scenic drives in the country to get there! To south west you have beaches and the Otway National Park, with its towering trees and mountainous sea vies. Of course there’s Port Phillip Bay, but Torquay and Apollo Bay have even better beaches and are far less crowded. If you’re a surfing buck then Torquay or Phillip Island are the places you want to be!

Unparalleled Palates

The home of fine food, Melbourne has something for everyone to taste. From a Greek quarter, where you can get a hefty gyros after a night out, to wine bars and industrial-esk breweries, making signature brews, you and the boys will not be starved for choice. Melbournians seem to get nothing but the best, so enjoy their success with some of the best meals you’ve had in restaurants run by celebrity chefs, or a melting pot of different international cultures. Some dishes you can find here are only available in Melbourne, or they were invented and done best here. Whether you’re looking for a dirty feed after a night out, or a classic brunch with the boys (extra credit for going the way of the hen and having it bottomless), or if your buck is a foodie or just likes quality food, this is the city you need to be in.
