What Is A Buck's Party

The big question, the biggest maybe. Well, for a best man at least. So, “What is a buck’s party, MyUltimate Writing Team???” we hear you ask. Thankfully you came here, let us educate you in this honoured tradition.

We could give you a full history lesson how it’s thought to have originated in Ancient Sparta, handed over to Rome, evolved through the drinking halls of castles in europe, made popular and accessible after World War 2, blew up in 1984 thanks to Tom Hanks, then in 2009 thanks to Mike Tyson’s tiger, before evolving a little more into the weekendish event it is now.

But we’ll ignore all that and get to the meaty bit.
A could-be dictionary definition of a Buck’s Party, also called a Stag Party, Stag Do, Buck’s Night, Buck’s weekend, etc. is ‘An intimate gathering of the Groom and his closest friends wherein they spend time or undertake an activity together to help the Groom relax before the wedding.’
Are you happy to say bollocks to that?
Because we are.

Anything You Want

A buck’s party is anything you want it to be! You could have a house party with 100 people, or you could have a day of watching sport in the living room and smoking some meat with your closest friend. You could also have a happy medium of people and hit the bars and clubs, the casino, or take the weekend away camping on K’Gari, who knows! The point is it’s an excuse to have an outrageous amount of fun with your soon to be married best mate, in any way that they enjoy.

A Deeper Take

Now it’s easy to fall into the ‘It’s the last night of freedom’ or ‘He’ll have a ball and chain now’ mindset (which let’s face it is not a very positive one), but what this is really about is celebrating your mate’s success and helping him have an island of fun in an ocean of wedding stresses. A deeper take, depending on the age of your social circle, could be this may be one of the last times it’s easy to get all of your friends in one place before life really kicks off, work picks up, and kids come along. So use this opportunity in any way you’d like as long as it’s positive, fun, and helps out your best mate whilst he’s dealing with wedding budgets, caterers, venues, in-laws, work, and flowers.

With the core concept out of the way we can look a little harder at what you can do at a Buck’s party. So thai really depends on the man himself, what does he like to do? If he’s the type of guy who likes to game and would just appreciate a day of getting back to his roots with Age of Empires, WOW, COD, then get him and his stuff over to your house and boot up a LAN party with all the snacks and drinks you need to have the best, most relaxing day every. If he’s the type of guy that fiends in a club, book a hotel room on the strip, break out the pre-drinks, maybe an in-room stripper if he’ll enjoy that, before rocking out onto the town. If he’s a classier guy, why not a whiskey or beer tasting during the day followed by a steak dinner? The possibilities are endless, but use the Buck as a reference, maybe a day of paintball followed by a few hours at an arcade, or a topless bombshell babe, in an apartment full of strippers, dealing you poker hands as you sip your favourite beverage.

The most important take away here (aside from the partaking in a Spartan tradition fact), is to cater to the groom and what HE finds fun, it's a night, a weekend, a day that’s all about him. And for you, it’s about helping a mate out, celebrating his success in finding a partner in life, and having the best night of your life!
