The Best Bucks Party Games to Play with Your Mates
Looking for some games to play with your mates? Maybe you’re at pres, or posts even, or just around the backyard waiting for the smoker to finish as you chill away a sunny arvo. Whatever your poison, here’s a few games to play with the boys whilst they put their faces on and get ready to paint the party red.

What Did She Say
This one gets the bride involved, and we’ve known a few that’ll happily torture her soon to be husband a little. Ask the bride a series of questions from what are their favourite sex positions, to what her favourite movie is, anything goes. Write these questions and answers down and keep them for the buck’s party. From there it’s as simple and fun as reading the questions to the man of the hour and for every answer he gets wrong, that’s a shot for him. You can also bring the boys in, and every time he gets one right then they all have to take a shot, either way someone’s going to be groaning by the 5th round.
Strip Poker
Not shy about what your mumma gave you? Or maybe you are, that’ll just make this even better. Play a couple of rounds of poker, with the classic twist of losing an item of clothing after each lost round. You can have the winner choose for the group, or you can start at your top and work you way down, whichever way you feel. You can play any other game like this, including beer pong or snap, but we recommend poker so you can show James Bond a birthday suit is just as acceptable as a tux. Maybe try adding in a few whiskey shots beforehand, that way you won’t feel the cold and there’ll be no…shrinkage.
Roast the Groom
Another classic, every guy knows a thing or two about roasting their mate, even if it’s over something they’ve done that was actually perfectly sensible. This can be as basic as going around a circle and telling the story of how you met the main man, or something dumb you got up to in your younger years. Whilst a good time in itself, you can spice this up with the groom having to take a shot after every story, if the circle votes the story was good enough or the buck deserves to take a shot for whatever silly thing he did. Maybe he even needs two shots for that time he got arrested (whilst we do not condone breaking the law, we do agree it can make for a funny story).
Beer Pong
A timeless classic with a host of differing rules that’ll get you all heated before the game even starts. Experiment as much as you’d like with this one, but we’ll give you a few pointers of where to start. Basically it involves throwing a ping pong ball into a triangle-arranged set of cups, usually those beautiful red solo cups. Fill those cups up with a big of your drink of choice, and every time the pingpond ball lands in it, by any means, then you drink what’s in the cup. Played with two teams, one on either side of the ping pong table or equivalent distance. Some methods can be trick-shotting the ball by bouncing it off something, from the light above the table to your mate’s massive forehead, as long as it’s in the cup it’s fair game.
Death Cup. A hardcore variant where you’ll either add the other team’s least favourite drink to their cups as extra punishment, or you just add a stronger alcohol to your cups, say switching out the gin and tonics for straight Fireball whiskey. This one’s dangerous but boy does it get the party started.

Arrogance
Why it’s called this we have no idea, but we know you probably won’t be feeling high and mighty after this. In this game you each pour a smidge of your own drink into a communal cup in the centre of your circle. You then all chug down your own drink and whoever finishes last has to drink the centre cup, a horrific frankenstein mutant of wine, whiskey, gin, vodka, and maybe a bit of soft drink if you’re lucky. Whilst traditionally played with alcohol, you can have a sober version by adding your choice of sauce, ie BBQ or tomato, to a cup which you’ve all poured a bit of your drinks into. Whether you’re on the juice, softdrink, or non alcoholic wine, we’re sure you’ll love the taste of all of them tempered with your favourite condiment.
Flip Cup
Another classic played in teams or one on one. In this one, teams or singles down their drink of choice, from a plastic cup of some sort, then must flick the edge of the cup and try to get it to land in a perfect 180 degree flip. The game continues until someone lands it, then it’s one point to them. Play a few rounds of this (we recommend alternating players) and you might wake up having forgotten you lost at all.
You can play pretty much all of these games without alcohol, however if you’re trying to break the ice in the party between friendship groups, a few drops of the social lubricant probably wouldn’t go astray. Have fun and enjoy the bonding!
