Buck’s Night Drinking Games
Got the perfect buck’s party planned but looking for a way to fill in the gaps, or make the pre-drinks a bit more fun? Hell, are you just with a couple of mates at hope looking for something to do with a heap of bevs and a TV? Or, my personal favourite, are you a fresh out of highschool uni student trying to start something at a party but you’ve got very limited experience in this?
Either way we’ve got something for you, so have a read on below for some classics and some potentially new ones.

Bucks Beer Pong!
First up is a classic, which naturally has inconsistent rules but we’ll run over a few that we play with.
- Arrange your cups in a triangle of any number of cups, each with a good few splashes of your beverage of choice in, at the end of the table and have your opponent do the same at the other end. The sides of the cups must all be touching.
- Without extending your elbows over the lip of the table (and thus your cups), launch a ping-pong ball at your opponents cups, you can bounce it off a light, a forehead, lob it, or have a friend make a guest appearance and throw it, either way try to get it into your opponents cup.
- If the ball makes it in the cup on the hole, your opponent must drink the cup. If it goes in but starts spinning in the cup your opponent can try to blow into the cup and blow the ball out, meaning no point.
- Go back and forth and get creative with how the ball gets in (called Trick Shots), just make sure you never cross that invisible line- if someone does, scream “ELBOWS” and make them retake the shot or lost the point, all depending on the situation.
There’s a few other bits and pieces to the game as well:
- Each player/team gets one ‘rearrange’ per game, they get to pick how their opponent arranges their cups. This is usually if there’s a bunch of holes in your opponent’s triangle and you want to close them up, or its say down to the last three cups and you now want them in a straight line.
- Redemption- when you or your opponent is down to the last cup and the ball goes in, that team gets to yell ‘Redemption’. The team that calls it then gets one shot to try and land in their opponent’s cup, which will then allow them to keep on playing. You can have as many redemptions as you want as long as you keep scoring, and some people even say each person on the team gets a shot at the time of redemption.
- Usually the loser has to drink the remainder of both sides’ drinks, but this sounds more like a win than a loss doesn't it?
A good variant for the Buck’s party is Bachelor Pong. This is essentially the same game with the twist of challenges and dares being associated with each cup. You can add jokes or embarrassing questions to the Buck as well!
Want to make it even easier? Save the below and print it out (at least an A4 c'mon guys) and hang it up around the honourary beer pong table. Now no one can claim to not know the rules!

Roast the Groom
Buck’s party can sometimes feel like a strange crossover episode of the buck’s different friendship groups so this one is a great icebreaker. This one is simple, each person in the group tells the story of how they met the groom and then one embarrassing story or unusual tidbit of information about them. The group then votes if the groom should have a shot after every story. It’s a simple game and there’s heaps of spins you can put, or rules you can change if the buck doesn’t drink!
Strip Poker
An absolute classic which usually leads to half/fully naked antics (play by your own rules), best played at home or your buck’s night apartment. If you’re unfamiliar with poker and want to partake, you can either read the manual as you go, or even hire a topless dealer to deal and run through the game as you go, this can just add another hilarity to the game as well. A variant is to play with shots instead of chips, with the first to fold having to take a shot, or even the winner having to take one. You can also have a bunch of dares/truths/challenges for the night instead of chips to keep it going. Either way, this one’s a classic and can really break the ice.
What Did She Say?
Here’s a classic: before the party, ask the bride to be to answer a bunch of questions about the groom. During the party, get the Buck to answer the questions themselves and each time his answer is different from his darling bride’s he takes a shot. If its a close group of friends you can get ask the buck questions about his friends so everyone can participate, or ask the bride to answer questions on all participants, if she knows.
Flip Cup
What’s becoming a modern classic, in this game you throw back a red solo cup of your choice of beverage, palace the cup on the table, then by flicking the lip of it you try and flip it perfectly over. Variants can be, you form two teams and line up, one team on each side of the table. Paired off people then play against each other to earn a point for their team, tally up when everyone has done. Alternatively you can go in pairs with the rest of the team cheering you on!
Battleshots
Basically battle ships but you’re sinking shots instead of ships. Set up the board in the traditional way, call out the numbers and sink the shots of your choice.

Outdoor Games
There’s a few here so we’ll just list them off, you can always apply your own rules.
Horseshoes,
Goon of Fortune (a deadly classic),
Corn Hole (An American game which is harder than it looks),
Hacky Sack,
Spoons.
Whiskey/Bev Roulette
Nice and simple, create a spinning wheel which dictates which colour you need to take a shot of. Add a bunch of various shots to a colourful board and have them sit on a colour (think of a Twister board). Watch the fear in your mate’s eyes as the board starts to spin around to that bottom of the shelf Russian whiskey that’s been in your nan’s closet since she graced Australian shores 60+ years ago.
Mario Kart/Movie Drinking Games
There’s all sorts of these, Mario is a classic, where to even think of finishing the race, each participant must finish their full drink. Tactics include chugging it all at the start of the game, big sips all the way through, or getting to the finish line, realising you’ve forgotten to drink, sit there on the finish line chugging and watching all your friends zoom past you, putting you in last place (yes, we're still bitter).
And there you have it! What better way to kick off the night or perk up the party a bit than with a couple of friendly games? We hope you've enjoyed our list and know you'll make it a killer party!
