We know planning the party of a lifetime for your best mate can be a terrifying experience, but if we’ve got one piece of advice for you it’s location, location, location. To figure out where’s best to take your main man, it’s important to think of a few things like cost, on/off seasons, weather, what you’d like to do, how many of the lads are coming, and what interests your buck has. Bringing these all together, even if you have to travel a bit, will give you a part worth remembering, and maybe a little something-something to add to the best man speech. Below we’ve got our favourite places to host a buck’s party and a little bit about why, feel free to mix and match, it’s a choose your own adventure after all!
Brisbane
If you’re looking for fantastic weather one day, and perfect the next, then look no further than your bucks party in Brisbane and its surrounding area! Whilst humidity can get a little high in the summer months, Brissy offers the luxury of having the best weather of the year in the dead of winter, when everywhere else is holding umbrellas and wrapped up in six different cotton blends. This makes a huge difference if you’re looking to get the buck’s party in during the colder months of the rest of the country, or if you’re just looking for a bit of sun. Brisvegas also has that casual dress code going for it, where singlets, short shorts, and a tattered pair of thongs are the new bougie. If your buck’s party plans are to hang out on a beach and have a swim in warm water (looking at you Melbournians and below), then you’ll want to be doing it out of your sunday best and in your favourite singlet, which is something Brisbane heavily encourages. The culture of Brisbane remains laid back and everyone enjoys a good cold beer on any type of day, we honestly think they’re just happier in general because of how much sun they get to brag about getting. With plenty of nightlife like the (in)famous Fortitude Valley, or Felons Brewing Co under the iconic Story Bride, you won’t be bored if you stick to the city itself either. Centrally located Brisbane also has easy access to the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and everything those beauties have to offer.
Gold Coast
Just south of Brisbane is our very own surfer’s paradise, Surfers Paradise. Enjoying your bucks party Brisbane weather but with beaches right on your doorstep (literally if it’s a king tide), Surfers is fantastic for fresh seafood and, believe it or not, surfing! If your best mate enjoys getting out on the board and catching some waves, then put the city’s name to the test and get out into the stunning water. With the hinterlands right behind the city, if surf is not your gig then head over for some turf. From breweries and cheese factories, crystal shops every septum piercing will love, and great ice cream and fudge, the Hinterlands offers heaps for the buck who’s looking to relax on a pristine day. Throughout the region there are also hundreds of fourby tracks for the buck with the gear, so don’t be afraid to head out bush for a weekend away. Here’s a cocktail fact for you, Surfers Paradise comes from the hotel of the same name that stood there in the 1920s.
Melbourne
If fantastic food and a perfect craft beer is more to the taste of your buck, then look no further than Melbourne. A city that prides itself on the quality of its food and drink, Melbourne also heavily incorporates international cuisine into its own offerings, from authentic Greek, incredible Indian, or just a down and dirty HSP, Melbourne will give your tastebuds the ride of their lives. Food aside, the city also offers incredible night life with hidden bars and clubs amongst red brick and graffiti-ed alleys, alongside the usual 4 story culprits. Outside the city there’s plenty to do as well, the watersports and wineries, the Yarra Valley, skiing, festivals, and great surf during the winter months. If you’re planning your bucks party in Melbourne then you’re already onto a winner!
Sydney
Ah yes the pseudo capital (they wish) of Australia, Sydney is the land of opportunity. Whilst we can talk less about the weather, thankfully in Sydney, no matter the weather there’s always something to do. From jet boating, skydiving, and V8 mud buggy racing, to Hunter Valley cellar doors and hot air ballooning, Sydney has pretty much bucks party Sydney activity you can think of. Of course, your main man isn’t restricted to leaving the city either, with a climb up the Harbour Bridge you can see the whole city. In its streets you’ll also find a great night life, with the usual clubs and pubs mixed in with quality comedy clubs and phenomenal drag shows that’ll have you rolling in stitches. With multiculturalism at its finest, Sydney also offers a hugely diverse culture, which extends throughout its shopping districts and cuisine. For the refined man of the hour, Sydney is also stacked with art galleries and cultural exhibits alongside it’s museum and public art displays. For the outdoorsy buck, the Blue Mountains offer one of the best getaways in the country along with an honourable mention for Newcastle.
There’s our four favourite cities to have a buck’s party in in Australia, but we’ll throw out a few honourable mentions: Hobart/Tassie is beautiful, there’s always something to do in Perth, Adelaide is basically just one big incredible wine region, and in Darwin we’re sure you can find a croc or something to fight, in Canberra it’ll be a politician.
